Yahoo is set to relocate a portion of their San Francisco team to the Chronicle building later this year after signing a 5-year lease at the historic property on the corner of 5th and Mission. The company which has been on the upswing and recently announced a major rebranding initiative will move staff closer to their other city location at 475 Sansome St. where they occupy several floors.

The Chronicle Building has been occupied by the Hearst Corporation since 1924 and recent renovations have made the property a hub for tech companies. Square previously occupied the three floors that Yahoo will be leasing and the building is home to several other technology firms.

The game of musical chairs for big blocks of space will likely continue as growing startups and established tech companies look to expand into spaces previously occupied by industries that are consolidating space or moving south to save on rent.
