Startup accelerator / office provider Rocketspace recently announced they signed a lease for just under 49,000 square feet at 180 Sansome St. The new lease will give the company the ability to house larger operations as they continue to grow their office-as-a-service business in the Bay Area.

Rocketspace provides roughly 130 startups and their 600 employees with a furnished office space, internet, conference rooms, mail handling, reception and most importantly free Philz Coffee. Their list of current and former clients include the likes of Spotify, Uber, Leap Motion, and Zaarly and their list will only grow as San Francisco startups seek affordable office solutions.

The company’s current location at 181 Fremont is being demolished to make room for the new Transbay project and the company is eyeing a replacement somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 square feet. The lease at 180 Sansome covers floors three through nine and two additional floors in the 18-story tower which Rocketspace hopes to completely envelope in the coming years.

The expansion will remove a previous 30 employee cap and allow the company to handle up to 60 employees per company. Furthermore Rocketspace expects to accomodate up to 2,000 people in the 140,000 square feet split between their locations.

This new lease is just the beginning as the company plans to open up a center in London and is looking at opportunities in Tel Aviv, Berlin, and Vancouver. The rapid growth of the co-working/office-as-a-service industry has been phenomenal and their lease comes days after a WeWork signed a 120,000 square foot lease in Manhattan.
